Langmuir-Blodgett assembly of one-dimensional nanostructures.

چکیده
The Langmuir-Blodgett technique has been used to assemble one-dimensional nanoscale building blocks. Various superstructures can be obtained as a result of different interactions between the individual nanostructures and different surface pressure applied. The general assembly behavior is exemplified here with BaCrO4, BaWO4, Au nanorods, and Mo3Se3 nanowires.

Bimetallic nanostructures as active Raman markers: gold-nanoparticle assembly on 1D and 2D silver nanostructure surfaces.
It is demonstrated that bimetallic silver-gold anisotropic nanostructures can be easily assembled from various nanoparticle building blocks with well-defined geometries by means of electrostatic interactions. One-dimensional (1D) silver nanowires, two-dimensional (2D) silver nanoplates, and spherical gold nanoparticles are used as representative building blocks for bottom-up assembly. The gold ...
متن کاملLangmuir-Blodgettry of nanocrystals and nanowires.
Although nanocrystals and nanowires have proliferated new scientific avenues in the study of their physics and chemistries, the bottom-up assembly of these small-scale building blocks remains a formidable challenge for device fabrication and processing. An attractive nanoscale assembly strategy should be cheap, fast, defect tolerant, compatible with a variety of materials, and parallel in natur...
متن کاملBiomedical Applications of Layer - by - Layer Assembly : From Biomimetics to Tissue
In the second half of the 20th century, scientists have been attracted to the design of thin solid films at the molecular level because of their potential for applications in the fields of biology and medicine. Two techniques dominated research in this area: Langmuir–Blodgett deposition and self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). Both Langmuir–Blodgett deposition, invented by Langmuir and Blodgett, a...
متن کاملSynthesis and characterization of amphiphilic phenylene ethynylene oligomers and their Langmuir-Blodgett films.
We report the synthesis of a series of amphiphilic molecular building blocks that can be self-assembled at the air-water interface to form two- and three-dimensional nanostructures with tunable optoelectronic properties. Compression of these molecular building blocks using the Langmuir-Blodgett method gives rise to monolayer and multilayer thin films with different packing densities and electro...
متن کاملA simulation of key aspects of a primary process in natural photosynthesis by a Langmuir-Blodgett film assembly.
An advanced Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) assembly designed to replicate the three key aspects (antenna, reaction center, and quinone pool) of a primary process in natural photosynthesis was successfully fabricated by alternate deposition of a mixed monolayer of an artificial reaction center and an antenna pigment and a pure bilayer of a second donor.
